Job Summary:
The purpose of this position is to assist with the delivery of instructional services for eligible students. Responsibilities vary with the individual assignment. Typically, will work under the direction of a certificated staff member(s) to provide instruction of students, supervise students and assist in adherence to the discipline plan, prepare materials, assist with testing and record keeping, and supervise within the building and outdoors.
Duties Responsibilities [or Essential Functions]:
- Instruct students individually or in a small group setting under the direction of certificated employee(s)
- Adapts lessons and activities with teacher approval, to be used to supplement classroom activities and instruction.
- Assists and/or instructs students in computer usage and operation.
- Maintains and/or assists with student discipline and maintenance of positive student behavior.
- Scores standardized classroom-based student assessments.
- Prepares materials and supplies for supplemental activities.
- Develops and maintains student records as directed by the teacher.
- Prepares for and assists with program audits.
- Maintains high standards of health and safety at all times and reports any concerns relative to student protection to relevant staff or the principal.
- Maintains good relationships with colleagues and works together as a team.
- Assists in the supervision of classroom, building, and outdoor activities.
- Reports to assigned duty areas promptly and reliably.
- Demonstrates sensitivity and respect for diversity among all members of the school/department or district community.
- Performs other duties as directed by the building principal

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated skills in human relations, leadership, and conflict management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students.
- Demonstrated skill in the use of technology to enhance student learning preferred.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills and ability to differentiate instruction.
- Evidence of ability to develop positive and collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.
- Aware of current educational developments and applications
- Demonstrated appreciation of and sensitivity to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, different learning styles, and various disabilities
- Willingness, interest, and commitment to participate in professional collaboration and student supervision.
- Commitment and adherence to confidentiality and other professional standards
Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
- Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent (for more detailed information on what is considered equivalent, please read our FAQ (document)
And one of the following:
- Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment (Test information here: CLICK HERE)
- Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48-semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university
- Current first aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain promptly.

Salary Range: $17.93-$22.35 per hour depending on experience.
Contract Year/days, 6.5 hours per day, Monday - Friday, 8:00AM – 3:00PM. School Year Only (no conference days – unless a member of bargaining unit before 10/8/2009.)
Benefits: Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability.
