Supervisory Assistant – Deer Park Elementary
2.0 hours/day 5day/week - School Days Only
2 Positions open - 11AM-1PM Monday - Friday
BEGINS: ASAP
SUMMARY: Actively supervise students in the lunchroom, playground and throughout the school premises as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work with students to maintain positive relationships and behavior on the playground and in lunchroom
- Monitor student behavior and providing appropriate intervention as necessary within guidelines of school rules
- Assist students in the orderly procurement of their lunches
- Monitor the transition of students to/from the lunchroom or playground
- Assist students in cleaning up after themselves (spills, wiping tables, disposing of trash, etc)
- Maintain a safe environment for all students
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Previous experience working with children is preferred.
- Demonstrated reliability and excellent attendance record
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with children and adults
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children Demonstrated skills in redirecting children in a positive and pro-active manner.
- Ability to determine when student behavior requires intervention and appropriate intervention to implement.
- Ability to determine when an issue should be referred to teacher or principal.
- Keen observation skills
Salary /Wage: The Supervisory Assistant is paid at a rate of $15.74 per hour
