Position: Temporary Groundskepper

Overview/Purpose:
We are seeking a motivated and reliable candidate to join our team as a Summer Grounds Assistant. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks to ensure the beauty and functionality of our grounds.
Duties Responsibilities [or Essential Functions]:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to operate a manual transmission.
- Ability to plan, organize, and accomplish work in a timely manner
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Experience operating and maintaining commercial landscape machinery preferred.
- Ability to operate and repair automatic sprinkler systems.
- Valid pesticide applicator license and application experience preferred.
- Able to layout and mark (paint) sports fields as directed.
- Operate basic equipment such as lawnmowers, weed whackers, and leaf blowers (following proper safety training).
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 19 years of age.
- Must have a valid WA State driver’s license with proof of insurance.
- Must have current First Aid/CPR certification or be able to acquire it by the start of the season.
Physical Requirements:
- Seasonal Grounds Assistant must be capable of standing, walking, kneeling, and bending without restriction. Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry objects frequently weighing up to 50 lbs. (workers may request assistance when asked to lift objects weighing more than 50 lbs). Must be able to work at heights (on ladders, lifts, roofs, etc..) and under extreme hot and cold temperatures. Must be able to work in environments with dust, allergens, chemicals, and loud noises and be willing and able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment when required.
Wage: $16.28 per hour.
Benefits: Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. https://www.hca.wa.gov/employee-retiree-benefits/school-employees This position is not expected to work the required hours to be benefit eligible.
Retirement Benefits: Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services. https://www.drs.wa.gov/ This position is not expected to work the required hours to be benefit eligible.
